HKUST Named One of the Best Business Schools in the World by CEOWorld Magazine

HKUST Business School is rated as one of the Best Business Schools in the World for 2020 by the US-based magazine CEOWorld!


Amongst over 170 business schools, our School was ranked No.13 in the world and No.1 in Hong Kong. These schools are ranked according to academic reputation, global influence, admission eligibility, placement rate, and corporate feedback.


Over the years, the HKUST Business School has mentored and educated many talented students who have moved onto successful careers, and has also produced rigorous research that contributes to practical usage in the business realm. The ranking reaffirms HKUST Business School's commitment in providing world-class education and making a positive impact on our community.

The HKUST Business School rated as a” Progressing school” in the 1st edition of Positive Impact Rating 2020

 

The HKUST Business School is named one of the world’s top 30 Business School of the student-voted Positive Impact Rating (PIR) 2020 in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The impact of business schools is measured in three areas (energizing, educating, and engaging) which are further divided into seven dimensions: governance, culture, programs, learning methods, student engagement, institution as role model, and public engagement.

Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme for HKUST MSc in Financial Technology 2020/21 Intake

We are delighted to announce that the HKUST MSc in Financial Technology (MScFinTech) Program is one of the eligible programmes in the new Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme (TPg) funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) in the 2020/21 academic year.  All local Hong Kong residents pursuing either full-time or part-time study in MScFinTech can apply for the fellowship. Successful candidates will be awarded up to HK$120,000 of tuition waiver, i.e., they only need to pay HK$180,000 instead of HK$300,000 if they join the program in 2020/21.

Eligible applicants admitted to the MScFinTech Program will be invited to apply for the Fellowships. The award of the Fellowships is by merit and competition. For more details of this Fellowships, please refer to UGC's website at here or email to mscfintech@ust.hk.

Program Lunch Ceremony Cum FinTech Symposium

To welcome the first cohort of 60 professionals with backgrounds mainly in finance and technology, and officially launch the program, a Ceremony cum a signature FinTech Symposium was held on 17 August.

The Program’s launch ceremony was officiated by Prof. Lionel NI, Provost of HKUST, Prof. TAM Kar-Yan, Dean of HKUST School of Business and Management, Prof. Richard SO, Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies) of HKUST School of Engineering, and Prof. Tim LEUNG, Associate Dean (Student Recruitment) of HKUST School of Science.

Senior Advisor and Chairman of WeLab virtual bank and HKUST Department of Finance Adjunct Professor Prof. KC CHAN delivered a keynote speech entitled “Fintech Education in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area” highlighting the advantages of Hong Kong as an education hub for Fintech talents.  Thereafter, a panel discussion on the “Virtual Bank and the Future of Fintech” further shed light on the instrumental role of Fintech in the overall development of the financial industry. Panelists Mrs. Christine IP, CEO-Greater China of United Overseas Bank; Mr. Arthur YUEN, Deputy Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority; and Mr. Simon YOUNG, Chief Compliance Officer-Overseas at Ping An Group, all alumni of HKUST, contributed their valuable industry knowledge and insights.

QS World University Ranking 2020

HKUST has continuous risen five places to number 32nd, published earlier this week by The QS World University Rankings 2020, a global organization specializing in higher education. Different criteria were taking account into for the rankings, namely the academic standing, employer reputation, citation per faculty, student-to-faculty ration, proportion of international faculty and student.

HKUST and Xunlei Establish Joint Laboratory to Drive Innovation and Applications of Blockchain Technology

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Xunlei Limited (Xunlei or the Company) today announced the establishment of HKUST-Xunlei Joint Laboratory on Blockchain Technology (the Joint Lab). The Joint Lab aims to develop cutting-edge and influential blockchain technologies that are applicable to various industries and establish a high-performance blockchain ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

HKUST ranked as No.1 in Hong Kong and No.3 in Asia

Congratulations to HKUST for being ranked No.1 in Hong Kong by the Times Higher Education (THE)’s latest Asia University Ranking 2019. In Asia, HKUST climbed up two spots to No.3 this year, thanks to its higher industry income and international outlook scores this year.

HKUST Dubbed the “Best Business School” in Hong Kong by the Global Brands Magazine

Our strong commitment to brand excellence and internationalization sets us apart from other institutions in Hong Kong. The endeavors we have made over the years have been recognized again, as the School was named the “Best Business School” (Hong Kong) for the year 2018 by the Global Brands Magazine.

The Global Brands Awards presentation ceremony was held on January 25, in Macau, where Professor Veronique LAFON-VINAIS, Executive Director (Career Development & Corporate Outreach), attended and received the award on behalf of the School.

Other top business schools across different geographies being acknowledged this year include: London Business School (UK), Stanford Graduate School of Business (US), and NUS Business School (Singapore).

Headquartered in the UK, the Global Brands Magazine has introduced the Global Brands Awards to honor companies and organizations which have performed extraordinarily well in the field of finance, education, hospitality, lifestyle, technology, among others. Nominations are accepted for different countries and regions. An external research team was constituted to evaluate the nominees. This year, over 8,000 companies from 130 countries were evaluated.

HKUST is ranked as Hong Kong’s #1 University

Congratulations to HKUST for moving 2 spots up to the 4th on Times Higher Education Asia-Pacific rankings 2019. The new ranking recognises HKUST as Hong Kong's No.1 university, in terms of teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.

Pleased with its ranking, an HKUST spokesman mentioned that “rankings can serve as a useful reference for us to understand more about our performance and identity areas for improvement. HKUST will continue to put emphasis on promoting innovation and scientific research, as well as offering top quality education to our students.”
